Apple applies for Thunderbolt trademark

Thunderbolt, the new communication standard developed by Apple and Intel was unveiled a few weeks ago, together with the new MacBook Pro computers. Initially it was assumed that Intel was the main party involved in its development, with Apple playing a smaller role. But according Apple’s latest move, it seems to propose that it might be the other way around instead. Apple has just filed to trademark the name Thunderbolt, branding the high-speed info transfer as something they own instead of something shared with Intel. Did Apple just slip them

the fast one or is there more to the reply behind that story? And whether Apple owns the name Thunderbolt, what about other companies that build use that technology, will they be calling it by its original name, Light Peak, or will it be something else instead?
