HTC Windows Mobile Smartphone Share Declines

HTC has been knocked off its perch as the global top ranking vendor of Windows Mobile-based smartphones (not including touch screen models) after seeing its share of that segment drop under the 30% mark, leaving it lagging behind Motorola and Samsung Electronics according to Microsoft. Back in Microsoft’s fiscal 2007, HTC’s share was as high as by 50% - which means that drop is pretty serious. However, the overall picture

still paints HTC as number one in the Windows Mobile-based PDA phone segment, providing nearly half the Windows Mobile-powered smartphones to the world. Will that number hold up? Probably not, since many other phone manufacturers are slowly but surely making their way into the touch screen segment as well.
