Nokia Haptikos Touchscreen Technology

Nokia’s haptikos tactile touchscreen technology is pretty interesting, with the Finnish cell phone manufacturer recently filing a patent application for it. Haptikos technology is meant to create a “variable and controllable user perceived surface roughness or friction coefficient”, and that is achieved by placing a “plurality of closely spaced voltage controllable protuberances” which can be either lowered or raised on a touchscreen surface.
