NVIDIA 8800M GTX SLI for Laptops

NVIDIA’s high-end SLI isn’t for desktops anymore: NVIDIA just announced that the GeForce 8800M GTX SLI would soon be available from a number of high-profile manufacturers like Dell (and Alienware).

If you’re not familiar with SLI (Scalable Link Interface), it is a multi-GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) setup that practically doubles the graphics performance when two GPUs are working together to render a frame.

Usually, multi-GPU configurations are big and hot, particularly when using a high-performance chip, so that is an interesting development.

Note that 3–Way SLI exists on desktop machines and take a look at the upcoming Hybrid-SLI as well – that is my personal favorite.
