Planar has a new DLP projector for the masses - the Viper, which offers 720p (forget about watching Blu-ray movies or playing other high definition games by the Xbox 360 and PS3 on that unless you’re willing to settle for less) resolution, but do bear in mind image quality consists of more than just pixel count. The Planar Viper will come with the following specifications :-

• 1,280 x 720 resolution
• 10,000:1 contrast ratio
• 2,000 lumens brightness
• Supports 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p inputs
• 24fps playback
• Two HDMI 1.3 ports
• 10-bit video processing

Everything sounds fine and dandy until I came across the $15,495 price tag. Thanks, but no thanks!
