The good folks at Bird Electron has come up with an iPod nano speaker kit that turns the now-empty case into a fully functioning speaker. It is compatible with 3rd generation nano

cases only, and installation is a cinch, taking less than 10 seconds at worst. Once you’re done, just plug the essential audio cable amidst it and the iPod and you’re good to go. Don’t expect a room-shaking experience with that $20 purchase though.
