Rumor: Dell Could Buy Motorola

We all know that Motorola isn’t in great shape, but next again neither is Dell after losing its position to HP as the top selling computer type in the world. Nevertheless, Dell’s market capitalization is nearly twice the size of the Motorola one, and word on the (wall) street has it that the former could be showing some interest in picking up Motorola’s bleeding cell phone division.

Some citizens are speculating that Dell might partner with Google after picking up Motorola’s cell phone

division to create a possible GPhone which runs on the Android technology platform.

Of course, these are just speculations and we think that it doesn’t construct as much sense as some would think. whether Dell wanted to go into the phone business, they could simply go to a Taiwanese ODM like HTC. The question is: what value would Dell add to a phone?
