Rumor: HD-DVD Xbox to be launched at CES?

Ok, it’s that duration of the year again: the word on the street is that the Xbox360 will have an integrated HD-DVD drive. The announcement would be made at CES by Bill Gates himself. I don’t know whether that’s true or not. It is certainly technically possible, but the cost doesn’t sound right. HD-DVD drives are still somewhat expensive, compared to a standard DVD

one.

However, I might have missed a XB360 cost-reduction cycle, or may be Microsoft can decide to lose more money on the hardware – it’s just hard to tell, but stay tuned!
