VR Game Reduces Pain in Burn Patients

Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois will be a pioneer in the world of medicine, being one of the first hospitals in the US to use a Virtual Reality (VR) game to help burn patients in recovering. No, the game won’t automatically imbue Wolverine’s healing factor in the patients involved, but it will distract patients from their pain as they enter into a virtual ‘polar landscape of gently falling snowflakes, snowmen, penguins, igloos and icy

rivers.’ The developers claim that that will cause the mind to ‘block your view of the real world’ while helping you escape from your pain. I guess I can identify with such distraction, and any little bit that helps burn patients (especially in severe cases) will go a expanded way to the road of recovery.
